How Praxis Science Lab handles information for this Android app.
Effective date: 2026-09-13. This notice describes Android version 0.2.0 (3) and the configuration documented below.
Praxis Science Lab is the publishing brand used by Traian Anghel. For support or privacy questions, email traiananghel@gmail.com. Include the app name and version. Do not send passwords, medical records, private recordings or other sensitive information.
Information handled by the app
Location and sensor readings are processed on the device. Tracks, waypoints, settings, downloaded maps and the last weather forecast are stored locally. There is no app account or developer-operated backend.
GPX import and export use the Android document picker. Exported files can contain exact positions and timestamps; you choose their destination. Files imported as Mapsforge packages are validated before activation.
Permissions, services and sharing
Location permission supports positioning, GNSS and track recording. Recording is started explicitly and can continue with the screen off through a foreground service and visible notification. No always-on background-location permission is requested for ordinary use.
Loading weather explicitly sends the chosen coordinates rounded to 0.01 degrees and the connection IP to MET Norway (api.met.no). Responses are cached; requests respect provider cache and retry limits. There is no periodic weather polling in the background.
Enabling the online map contacts tile.openstreetmap.org and reveals the viewed map area and IP address. Offline package downloads contact the Mapsforge Hochschule Esslingen mirror with the selected package and IP, not GPS coordinates. Android DownloadManager can continue a requested transfer in the background. Installed packages render without internet.
The development build includes Google Mobile Ads and requests Google sample ads. Google may process connection information, identifiers, interactions and diagnostics. Test ads do not generate revenue. The app does not explicitly pass GPS tracks to its advertising controller. Production advertising IDs and the applicable consent configuration remain unconfigured. Retention and deletion
Delete tracks and offline packages in the app. Clearing app storage or uninstalling removes private tracks, waypoints, settings, maps and cached weather; Android backup is disabled. GPX exports remain at their chosen destination until deleted there. Providers control the retention of their connection logs and SDK data.
Security
Private app files use Android application storage protections. No additional database-encryption guarantee is made. Keep your device protected and control access to files you export. There is no Praxis Science Lab account to delete for this app.
Support messages and external pages
If you contact us, we receive your email address and the information you choose to send. We use it to answer your request and resolve the issue, not for advertising. Correspondence remains only as needed for that purpose and any applicable legal obligations; you can request deletion. Our email provider processes messages under its own terms. We do not sell support correspondence.
Opening this policy or other external links sends ordinary connection information to the website or browser provider. See our website privacy notice. App-local data is not automatically included in those requests.
Your choices
You can clear local data and use the contact above to ask about support correspondence or request access, correction or deletion where applicable. We may need information to identify the relevant request. You may also contact your local data protection authority. Local app information is processed to provide the functions you use; support correspondence is processed to respond to your request.
